Let's Talk Foundation is proud to announce the expansion of our flagship School Mental Health Outreach Programme for 2026. Following the success of our pilot in five schools last year, we are reaching 10 new secondary schools across Kampala and Wakiso districts.
About the Programme
The school outreach programme brings qualified counsellors directly into schools to:
- Conduct mental health awareness sessions for students and teachers
- Set up in-school peer support clubs
- Train school counsellors in evidence-based techniques
- Create referral pathways for students who need deeper support
Why Schools?
Adolescence is a critical period for mental health. Research shows that 50% of all mental health conditions start before age 14, yet most go undetected and untreated. Schools are where young people spend most of their time — making them the ideal environment for early intervention.
Many of the students we work with are dealing with exam pressure, family instability, peer conflict, and in some cases abuse or trauma. Our counsellors provide a safe space to process these challenges.
Partner With Us
We are looking for schools and corporate partners to support this programme. Sponsoring a school costs as little as UGX 5,000,000 per term and gives 400–800 students access to mental health support.
